Today we will make a circular trip leaving Neuchatel by train for the short trip to Yverdon-les-Bains.
At Yverdon we will take the narrow gauge line up to Ste-Croix stopping off on the way.

| At one time some Swiss railways had a locomotive they called a Crocodile.  This isn't one really but the Yverdon-Ste-Croix railway has painted up their switcher to look like one. |

|
It is a long walk from Vuitboeuf station to the village but there are good views of the French Alps in the distance
| | | Vuitboeuf is nestled in a small valley. The church sits on a hill overlooking the village |

| | | Water troughs are a feature of many of these villages |
We take the train  on to Baulmes

| | | Baulmes is a small farming community at the foot of a high ridge of mountains |
| | | Baulmes has its water trough |
| | | And so does Ste-Croix |
The train to Ste-Croix climbs a very steep hill with views across the plain towards Yverdon-les-Bains and the mountains. The town is a high, cold one and we quickly decide to take the Post Bus to Buttes

Buttes
It is now getting late and so we take the train back to Neuchatel |
