Paul has joined me for a continuing virtual tour of Switzerland, this time with railfan interest. I thought we would start first with a series of pictures of the SBB Re 460 locomotives. These are a series of high speed locomotives built in 1991-1996. They are receiving extensive rebuilding although they are gradually being replaced in passenger service by the newer multiple unit trains. They run in push-pull service and it can sometimes be difficult to spot them as they may be buried in the middle of a long train.

This is the plain vanilla version , newly rebuilt at Zurich September 2019 |
The Re 460s are notable for the large number of different advertising paint schemes. The following pictures were all taken by Paul

In searching through my own pictures for "460" I came across a number of other interesting railway shots

Great Western "Clun Castle" is a 4-6-0 which I fired on one of its last regular passenger assignments. Seen here at the Didcot Railway Center. |
