These monsters were built between 1975 and 1980 and they pack 7850 kW or 10,527 hp. Being up to 40 years old they are gradually being replaced by the Vectrons and Traxxs of which more anon.
Quite frequently a 6/6 will be run in multiple with a 4/4 making a 10/10 for a total of 12,550 kW or 16,830 hp. No wonder they can run freight trains at passenger train speeds.
