Virtual Railfan Tour of Switzerland - Saturday - Blonay - Chamby Museum

The Blonay - Chamby Museum is devoted to metre gauge equipment, mainly electric but with a lot of stream.
The Museum took over the line between these two points and developed the museum which is located at Chaulin closer to the Chamby end. Chamby can be reached by the narrow gauge Montreux Oberland Bahn (MOB) via a circuitous climb up from Montreux. Blonay is on the narrow gauge line from Vevey. On operating days, mostly weekends, the museum runs heritage trains between these two points to bring visitors, road access is limited.
A ticket for the train provides entrance to the museum

At Blonay there is an easy transfer between the train from Vevey and the train to the museum

Time for a break

There is a restaurant run by volunteers which has good food and wine and a wonderful view over Montreux and Lac Leman.

The facility for the operating steam locomotives is a little cramped

This steam powered snow plow is fired up on special occasions

This "tug" is used to move the exhibits around

On the line towards Blonay is this curved viaduct where steam locomotives stop to blow the boiler down and allow photographs

At Blonay there is a frequent service of trains back to Vevey
There are a number of good videos on YouTube of the Blonay Chamby Musee, many of them made during the special event weekends.
