Virtual Railfan Tour UK - Welsh Highland Heritage Railway

Russell was one of the locomotives that worked on the Welsh Highland. It has now been put back into operating condition.
Bearing in mind that we arrived at Portmadog by the standard gauge railway it makes sense to look at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway which has headquarters close to the standard gauge station. The WHHR is the same gauge as the FR and WHR and there is a connection with the WHR. WHHR trains do occasionally venture onto the WHR but there are some operating differences, the WHHR uses air brakes whereas the WHR uses vacuum.

There is an excellent museum

Steam locomotive "Karen"

A loaded slate truck. This must have been pretty heavy when full.

A Bulgarian built industrial diesel.

Outside Gertrude was in steam

There was a short ride to the end of the line with the connection to the WHR
