Virtual Railfan Tour _ Bolivia - 1997

Reed boat on Lake Titicaca

I next visited Bolivia at the end of a trip to Peru. We came by boat across Lake Titicaca

Copacabana is very busy at weekends because many newly purchased cars are driven up here from La Paz to receive a blessing.  The road back is pretty dangerous as drivers think they may drive as fast as they like having received religious approval.

However, we took a chartered train from Guaqui down to La Paz.

A run past at an intermediate station.

Other runpasts served to emphasize the vastness and emptiness of the altiplano.
This was all I saw of the Bolivian Railways on this trip as the next day we left to fly home.

This video was made in 2008 after the line from El Alto to La Paz was abandoned
