Virtual Railfan Tour of Argentina 1995 - Supplement

I have just found and scanned some additional prints I took on this trip for the section between Ing. Jacobacci and El Maiten.  They make a good record of a wonderful day. Above and below I show two "glint" shots taken early in the morning when the sun was glinting off the side of the train, Down below you will find the full story about how we got the picture of the train with the two horsemen.

With the sun up the glint is not so pronounced

But the side is well illuminated

Even though the sun was up we needed to keep the fire in the stove.  The initial supply of wood soon ran out and we were reduced to collecting cow pats at each stop for a run past.  They burned well with little odor.

There was even a tunnel

These tell the full story of the picture with the horsemen.  We stopped here for a picture with the water tank and the small settlement.

Pretty soon people came out to chat and pose for pictures.

The kids were as curious about the gringos as we were of them

A man on a horse turned up and we were able to get a shot of him against the train, water tank and settlement

A second horseman turned up and we thought to get a picture of them as the train made a run past

However the horses didn't like being close to the train

But they became docile after the train had passed

So we brought the train back and the horses posed quietly against the standing train in two locations

These two pictures made it all worthwhile.
