Virtual Railfan Tour of Argentina - 2004. Buenos Aires - ride behind a shark

Ferroclub Argentino #5037, Baldwin Model RF-615-E, 608A SC 1500 HP. 51 of these "Sharknose" units were built in 1953-54 for Argentina. This is the only one ever preserved.

In 2004 Mary and I flew into Buenos Aires and joined a group that travelled down to Ing. Jacobacci for a run over the narrow gauge to Esquel.  We spent a few days at the beginning in Buenos Aires. The first day we went on a special train hauled by a Baldwin shark nosed diesel.

Interesting lattice signal mast complete with a finial.

There was an interesting display

A crane tank engine

5037 was nicely placed for photographs.  Notice the tablet pick up apparatus behind the cab window.

A miniature railway was giving rides

No. 4116 is a 2-8-0

No. 8018 no details

We had a regular diesel on the front of our train to return to Buenos Aires
