Virtual Railfan Tour of Argentina 2004 - Buenos Aires Tramway Museum at Caballito
The Association of the Friends of the Tramway have taken over part of the Polvorin workshops in the Caballito neighborhood of Buenos Aires. This also serves as the workshops for Line A of the Buenos Aires underground. Nos. 2 and 3 was built by the United Electric car Company in Preston, Lancashire and delivered in 1913 for service on Metro line A. They were taken out of regular service in 1977.
The great thing about a weekend visit here is that the trams make free trips around a two kilometer section of track in the Cabillito district.
The following pictures were all taken either from one of the many vintage trams working the circuit of relaxing at a sidewalk cafe.
No. 652, from Porto, Portugal, is ready to leave the car barn
No. 258, ex Porto, Portugal, was built in 1927
Nos 2 and 3 were coupled together
A great way to get to know this neighborhood
