Virtual Railfan Tour of Central America - Honduras
With no trains running out of La Ceiba I was able to hire a track car and crew to take Mary and I and a couple of friends along the coastal section to Sambo Creek, about five kilometers
The vegetation was very thick in places
I had my own private runpasts
We came across some men who had been cutting reeds and transporting them on a home made flat wagon
We gave them a welcome push which made their job much easier.
Sambo Creek
We had the beach to ourselves
Sambo Creek
Heading back into town.
The line between La Ceiba and Sambo Creek has now been abandoned and the rails mostly lifted or stolen.
