Day 8 - Warley Model Railway Show - Day 1

There was wonderful back bacon for breakfast

And Sausages
Close to the hotel - a frame for dare devils

The hotel overlooks a large lake
WE were at the show in time for the opening at 0945 and stayed until closure just before 1800.  There was a great deal to see so I will just show a variety of pictures which illustrate the quality of the modelling.

A full size 2-6-2 tank locomotive was brought in - under restoration

A full size bus was also on display

A view of the hall at lunchtime

This young girl was carefully controlling the trains at this end of the layout while her brother, about the same age, was doing the same at the other end. Mother and father were looking on

Part of the layout the children were operating

Loosely modelled on Le Locle, Switzerland

A busy scene

An excellent row of shops modelled against the backdrop

A steak and stilton Cornish pasty went dowen well

Great detail

This layout was fully signalled, fully interlocked and communication was through  bell signals and a form of block telegraph. I could clearly understand the messages being sent and received,

It was also beautifully detailed

A great first day. We managed to cover most of the exhibits but there is still some more to discover and examine in fuller detail tomorrow.

Comments

  1. Such beautiful scenery, impressive. I have to admit, having to choose between Bacon, Leek & Cheese vs Steak & Stilton... that would have been a dilemma!

  2. Was a certain little blue 0-6-0T with the number 1 on its side present?
