Travel from Yverdon-les -Bains to Basel - Tuesday 10 September 2024

The first picture I took today was at Basel. This shows my room at the hotel above the tram stop for the SBB station.
We chose a roundabout route today to get from Yverdon-les-Bains to Basel. It could have been done much quicker but there was plenty of interest.
- Yverdon-les-Bains to Payerne (SBB) - alongside lake Neuchatel
- Payerne to Kerzers (SBB) Passing through the ancient town of Morat, and the Kerzers interlocking,
- Kerzers to Lyss (BLS) Passing the sugar factory at Aarlberg
- Lyss to Biel/Bienne (BLS)
- Biel/Bienne to Basel (SBB) Passing through heavily forested wild country
There were a couple of two-minute connections but everything worked perfectly, all trains ran to time and we arrived precisely on time. It is amazing how the two railways manage to work together.
We took a tram across the river Rhine to have lunch at the Migros restaurant then walked back to admire the Rathaus.

The tilework and the figures painted on the walls are impressive.
After this we took a tram back to the station and went out to Pratteln to visit the model railway shop and look for trains which we found aplenty.

Tomorrow we leave Switzerland and travel to the Netherlands.
